I recently discovered a great iPad application – Awedutorium. I was reading scobbeilzer and was drawn in by his mention of music side of SXSW, you can read his story here.
This a really cool discovery application that is also atheistically pleasing to use. You select a thumb form what appears to be a never ending grid of thumbnails and you get a great Hi-Res image of the band, and the music starts playing. Pop up details provide you with interesting facts about the musician. You can share via twitter and Facebook. It will link you to the iTunes store to purchase music, or other songs by the band if they are on Aweditorium. If there are any YouTube video about the band it will bring them up or play Vimeo or YouTube HD version of the song if it exists. If you aren’t interested swipe up, down, left or right and the next artist comes up. The project originally started as a website www.thesixtyone.com – which is also pretty cool. It would be pretty cool if this incorporated the genome project that Pandora uses – and would play songs based on what I like. It’s still pretty damn cool. Check it out if you have and iPad.
